It's Finally Bouncing
Today in class we worked on our graphics assignments. I finally got my bouncing ball assignment to work, and tampered with it to include several new options. Then, Mr. Arkin showed us two new programs, also graphics. Now we're working on solving these assignments. Graphics are actually pretty fun!

Vite vite vite
Sorry, this post is gonna be short, I have WAAAAYY too much to do. Today in class we got our tests back. I got a decent mark, better than the first one. We have begun animation and shapes and whatnot with Turing, another step up on the skills ladder!
Winter break is almost here, and everyone is hurrying. English, science, ICS, French, everything. It's almost time for me to rest! YES!

GAHHHH!
Today we had...a test....not just a test....THE TEST! Yup, today was the second programming test. We had 45 minutes to finish, but when I was half done I realized I didn't write in cursive. OOOOooooh.....
In science today we learned the formulas to calculate the current and voltage of circuits in series, parallel, and combination. In French we spent most of the class on Unit 5 and 6 grammar. The rest of the period we practiced the presentations. In English we had a sub, and we sort of fooled around while working on our final drafts our essays.

Nothing Much to Share
So, I'm guessing that all my classmates have really short posts? Well then, I'll join the club. Today was the last day of the peer-help group. I spent most of the period creating fun new procedures and functions that did things like telling the future, naming the user's soul, and other silly gadzooks.
I believe that the ICS test will be on Monday, and it'll be a big one. I'll have to study extra hard and try to reach that 90 in ICS, hehe.

Sharing the Knowledge
Today in ICS, we got back in the same groups as yesterday and helped each other out. Using the Skills Inventory that Mr. Arkin kindly provided for us, we went over most, if not all, of the skills needed to successfully create a good program. We went over things like documentation template, procedures, constants, and more. I have a feeling that the class skill level just went up by a large margin!
In science today we did labs on current electricity, where we got into groups and used the electricity kits to make circuits. We then observed the circuits, measured the voltage and the current of the circuits, and wrote them down. in English today we revised our essays that our peers edited yesterday. In French we spent the first half of the class working on conjunctions, then got into our groups for the monsters project. Before class ended, however, we got our Unit tests back. I could say that I got a decent mark (mid-eighties), but I'm sure that I can still do better.

It's Time to Proceed
Procedures. Proceed. yeah, I know, bad pun. Oh well. Today we continued to talk about procedures, then began to learn about procedures. There so similar, it's hard to tell them apart. Mr. Arkin helped us by saying that functions don't talk, while procedures do. This means that functions don't prompt the user or anything, they just take a value and give out another. Procedures, on the other hand, can ask the user for words, display greetings, and thank the user. ISN'T THAT GREAT??? Yes it is.
Today in science we did a mock lab on current electricity. in French we continued to work on conjunctions. In English we began to watch the movie of "As You Like It". It's really neat!

Functions and Conjunctions
Today in ICS, we learned how to declare functions. Mr. Arkin showed us a few of his, and we realized how much easier having functions would be for our programs. A function is a subprogram that returns a single value. I can use functions that output thank-you messages, functions that ask for a word...ahhhhhh. This will reduce the amount of typing. YES!!!
Today in French, we talked about several conjunctions: car, donc, c'est-a-dire, d'ailleurs, ou, mais, and et. We then had to do page 88 and page 197 in the workbook. In science today we had some grade 11 who came in and talked about the community. We then did several activities, like writing down what you think should change for the better in the school. In English today we peer-edited each other's essays. We're going to watch the movie of "As You Like It"! Oh boy!

It's Early Dismissal!
Today was early dismissal, which meant that classes ended at noon. Although this gave me time to hang out with my friends, go to the mall with them, and visit my buddies at my old school, I also have a lot of homework. Today in class we learned about counted loops and the keywords decreases and for.
For homework we have to modify substrings assignment 9. I wonder if I'll have to use counted loops. The rough draft of my essay is due for English tomorrow. Uh-oh, I gotta hurry! For French, our homework is to read about corn and butterflies (don't ask) and do two pages in the workbook. I finished in class. In science, we went over static electricity and current electricity. I'll have to look over the applications section in the textbook.
BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!

Oh No!
Yesterday I was unable to post in my blog!!! I was playing piano when I suddenly became really, really tired. i lay down on the couch for a bit, to close my eyes for a moment. It was 6:30 at the time. When I woke up, it was 5:40 in the morning!!! I had been very tired this week, each day only getting about 7 hours of sleep. Anyways, back to ICS. This entire week Mr. Arkin was not at school. We have all made a lot of progress on our substring assignments. I'm on assignment 21 at the moment, and will finish all of them by Monday.
For homework, I have to finish the outline and print out the rough copy of my English essay by Tuesday. For science, I believe we have a test next week. We also have the substrings quiz next week. Oh boy.....
Monday is early dismissal. That means we get out at 12! I can finally go and visit my old school!

Aujourd'hui , j'ai eu un test
Today in ICS, we had a substitute again! At the beginning of class we all logged into our computers, but then the pep rally started right after. We all went down to the gym, where the sports teams paraded around the gym while the jazz band played. It was SOOOO inspirational....=_=
In French today we had the unit three test. I don't think I did too badly, but I know for sure I got some questions wrong. In science, we went over the lab report, which is due tomorrow, and talked about the questions from the textbook. In English we worked on our essays in the lab (again) as we near the due date of the essay.
Tomorrow we'll have a little substrings quiz. I have to look over all my substring assignments. Is it just me or are all my tests piling up???

It's a Substitute AND Substrings! (Continued)
Once again, Mr. Arkin wasn't in class today. We spend the period working on our assignments (again). The substring assignments, I have found out, are actually not that hard. Not THAT hard. I still have to rack my brain sometimes to come up with a solution to my problems when programming the codes.
Tomorrow is the French test! STUDY STUDY STUDY! I also finished science textbook page 287 questions 1 to 8. For English, we continue working on our essays. For ICS, I am steadily, if not a bit slowly, progressing through the substring assignments.
I do believe that tomorrow there will be an assembly on the school spirit or something similar to that. I am looking forward to it, for lately everyone has been feeling a bit gloomy. Perhaps its the weather...

It's a Substitute AND Substrings!
Today we had a sub, since Mr. Arkin wasn't here. The entire period we spent working on our assignments, starting substrings, and starting our game programs! It seems quite a few people have already finished their awesome games. I'll need to pick up my pace.
My French test is on Wednesday, and I need to review all my notes. The ICS test is drawing near, too. For English, we'll be spending the entire week in the lab working on our essays. For science, we need to finish the lab report on static electricity and the two sheets of questions on the leaf electroscope lab.

Haha, it's a mime!
Today Studio 218's DJ was very much like most other DJ's: the genre of the music that was picked, of course, was MIME, which stands for Music: Instantly Mute for Eternity. I hope the next DJ will have other genres! Today we spent the period working on our assignments (again), but before that, Mr. Arkin showed us a little game that he programmed, where one player inputs a word and a hint, and the other player guesses it, having thrice the amount of tries as the letter of the word (does that make sense? Yes it does). My friend Andres showed us his program (repetition 12), but I don't think it went as well as he planned.
Today was my English presentation. I got perfect (of course) and was happy for the rest of the day. In French, we took up the review sheet and had a little listening quiz. In science, we continued to learn about static electricity, today focusing on charge seperation by induction. I didn't get the time to present today, so I think I'm going on Monday.
For homework, I have to write a formal lab report on ALL the things we did and learned on static electricity for Tuesday (arrrrgggggg). I have to study for French, and also prepare to write the essay for English. For ICS, we have a test next week and I'll have to finish the arrays for 12 and touch up all the other assignments. Well, now it's time for me to mime the doing of my homework.

HOW DO YOU DO IT???
Today was an extremely frustrating day for me. After we took notes on how to be successful in ICS and three ways to do repetition assignment 8, we continued to work on our repetition assignment 12. However, I still can't correctly program it to use arrays. ARGGGG! It's frustrating, having to type and type and type to no avail. Oh well. At home, my dad, who is a professional programmer, can help me!
Today in my science, me and my partner had the last two minutes to present the beginning of our project. My partner read out our topic, deforestation, and explained what it is. I then read out the poem I wrote about deforestation. I think my science teacher really liked it (well, I hope so)! Since one of my group members in English was at volleyball today, we didn't present. Instead, we are going tomorrow. I get an extra day to prepare, but also an extra day to fret. For French, we continue to work on the long piece of paper that is our review sheet.
Two tests are drawing near: the ICS test and the French test. Today, after a democratic vote, my class decided the test will be on Wednesday of the next weekend. It's time for me to start studying. UGGGG.

It's an Array!
Today is Mr. Arkin's birthday! He taught us how to say 'Happy Birthday" in Hebrew! It was really cool, and he even gave us lollipops! Anyways, today in class we were introduced to arrays, and the new keywords "array" and "of". Arrays allow values to be stored as individuals under one variable, instead of only one value per variable. We learned about the array index and the array boundaries. We are now working on fixing repetition assignment 12 by using arrays.
Next week is another test! We are to go over all our assignments and make sure we are familiar with everything. My science presentation and English presentation are tomorrow. I'm going over what I have to say. For French, we also have a test next week. Our teacher handed out sheets for review, and also assigned pages in the workbook. It's a busy week.
Oh, and one more thing. Today we got our midterm report cards. Although my marks are satisfactory (in the 80's), I will continue to work hard to pull up my marks!

Assignment Marks
Today, before we entered the classroom, we saw our Printer Comparison marks posted by the doorway. The marks were separated into 4 sections: knowledge and understanding, application, communication, and thinking. I got 15 out of 16: 4, 4, 3, 4! I am now looking over Mr. Arkin's, model answer, which he created as an example of a good assignment.
We are working on the rest of our repetition assignments. we have to make assignment 12, a "receipt", look good and professional. For science, we have to complete pages 54, 55, and 56 for the Static Electricity Lab. For English, today is the last day to work on our "As You Like It" posters.

Repeat!
Today we were given the period to work on our repetition assignments up to assignment 11. I have already finished repetition, so this period I spent looking at other people's Printer Comparisons and studying for science.
I have an ecology test the next period, I think. I have to memorize the carbon cycle, the nitrogen cycle, the water cycle, and the phosphorus cycle. I also have to know the scientific equations for cellular respiration and photosynthesis.
For French, I have to work on textbook and workbook pages. For English, we continue to work on the "All the World's a Stage" assignment, where we are assigned an age in life and have to make a poster for it.

More HTML!!!!
Today we spent a lot of time working on the computers. YES!!! We were then introduced to code completion, when you press ctrl and enter and the program finishes the code for you! We also learned about the debugger menu, where you can step through your program manually or let the computer step through it to find bugs in your program.
For homework, Mr. Arkin assigned us another HTML project where we have to compare two printers and recommend one, pointing out its benefits and such. For science, we have to finish our human impact projects and study for the ecology test on Monday. For English, we continue reading As You Like It, and have to draw out a poster for the famous speech, "All the world's a stage". I have no homework for French, because I finished in class. Tomorrow is P.D. day... :)

DESK CHECK!!!!
Today we desk checked our repetition assignment 7:
% declaration section
var mark : real
var mean : real
var number_of_marks : int
var total_marks : real
var user_choice : char
% initialization section
number_of_marks := 0

get user_choice
exit when user_choice = "n"
end loop
mean := total_marks / number_of_marks
% extro section
put skip, "The mean of the mark(s) is ", mean, "."
Before that, though, we got back the assignments we handed in last class. We then took our desk-checked assignments and polished them up on Turing.
For homework, I need to finish science, so I'm going to skip badminton club. I need to finish the As-tu compris for French, textbook page 70.

Feedback from the classes
Today Mr. Arkin handed out sheets for us to fill with our thoughts and comments on the class, including what we like about it, what we don't, and what we we would like to start. We than handed them in to Mr. Arkin, then took out our most sophisticated repetition assignment and handed that in. For the rest of the class we worked on the rest of the assignments.
For homework, I continue researching deforestation for science. For French, pages 192 and 193 in the workbook are needed for tomorrow. For ICS, Mr. Arkin told us to make good progress on the assignments.

It's Monday Again!
Today is Monday again. The sky is grey and colourless, making me feel energy-deprived and moody. I found out my ICS mark today: 85. I don't know if I should be happy about it or not. in class, we took up the first repetition assignments, then began working on repetition 3 and 4. We also learned about the functions "abs", "whatrow". and "whatcol".
I have lots of pages to do for French, including a reading exercise from the textbook. For English, we have started the play "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare. We have to finish reading Act 1 for tomorrow. Hehe, I'm on Act 2!

Repetition
Today Mr. Arkin introduced us to Repetition, where the program continues to execute the same value until it exits the loop. He then went on to show us the details of Repetition programs, including a warning about the importance of where the exit is put. He also showed us a funny cartoon strip that made fun of infinite loops, repeating programs that have no exit, where the program continues running forever (Unless there is a limit of some sort, where the program crashes).
For homework, I am starting the first and second parts of the science Human Activity assignment. Today for my English presentation, I got full marks, and was praised as the Gold Standard! : )

Remember
Today is Remembrance Day, so Lest We Forget, wear a poppy. We had a Remembrance assembly in the morning, and also held a few moments of silence. Today in class we went over the test questions, then got our tests back. I got 17.5 out of 24. Uhhhh.....I also have to get it signed. I got my English mark, too. It's an 88%. I', going to have to do better than that!
For homework, there is page 65 in the workbook for French, which I finished in class. For English, I am currently preparing for the poster presentation tomorrow. For science, I have to start on the Human Impact assignment, and also to remember to bring my modified design lab for tomorrow.

Test
Today we took 50 minutes to complete the programming test. Although there weren't a lot of questions, it took fairly long because the questions needed lots of writing and thinking.
Today in period one, some grade 10's and 11's came into our class and talked about respect. We then did several fun activities, including a game where one or two people act as clay pigeons and the rest of the students mold them into shape.
For homework, I have to do page 60 in the workbook for French.

Exam Tomorrow!
Tomorrow is the big test on programming! Gulp, I'm gonna have to study extra hard today. In class Mr. Arkin took up questions regarding the test, then gave two new definitions. We also created a new program that takes three different marks and displays the mean three times.
Tomorrow there is supposed to be an event of some sort. For English, we are wrapping up our poster for the poem. For French we are doing more textbook and workbook pages, this time on Unit 3 things, the theme being monsters and horror movies.
It's getting colder and colder! That means winter is very close. I love winter, especially the pristine landscapes, the white, shiny ground, and most of all, the snow.

Wrap it Up
Today I was the DJ for Studio 218! I brought in Ocean Eyes by Owl City. We then continued to work on our programming posters, and also copied them into our binders.
For science, I have to finish my ecological footprint assignment and hope that the given websites don't crash again. For English, I have a poetry test on Monday, so i have to study. For French, I have to rehearse my lines for the skit on Monday.

Noire
Today in class, we took up Selection assignment 6, where Mr. Arkin gave us the code, but we had to desk check it by creating the Memory and the Run Window on paper. We were already in groups of 4, so after we created a big poster with the operators, keywords, etc.
Today is the fall dance, Noire! It's from 6 till 10, so I don't know how I'm gonna memorize my 7 lines for French, study for the mock poetry test for English, do the desk checks on my 3 best assignment, and continue my ecological footprint project for science. Oh well. It's IB, and I'm gonna try to fit in my social life amongst the homework, projects, and tests :)

DBA
Today was Take Your Kids to Work Day! I went to my dad's workplace, which is where the Database Administrators work for Telus! I spent the day watching my dad read through e-mails and maintain the databases. I then went with him to a team meeting, where his colleagues and him discussed issues and looked over assignments.
Although the profession of DBA is very interesting, I don't think it will be my future profession, because it is just too monotone for my taste. I will probably be working for the government or will be taking up a medical profession.

Birthday of Boole
Today Mr. Arkin informed us that today is Dr. Boole's birthday! isn't that neat? In class, we were introduced to case, a more sophisticated way to program that can replace if-ladders.
Tomorrow is Take Your Kids to Work Day! I'm going to Telus! It's gonna be a blast, going to my dad's workplace and meeting his boss and co-workers, and learn about the importance and all the cool stuff about what he does.

Selection Hybrids
Today we got into groups to take up the Selection assignments, and each group member of all groups learned something new! I found out that we have to get our quizzes signed, and I also need to create a Programming Glossary and add it to my website.
For homework, I have to create a design lab for tomorrow, and to work on the ecological footprints assignment and ecosystem project. For English, I have to do the poetry assignment, where I define two poetic terms and present the two in a chosen poem. For ICS, I have to update my website and preview Selection (II). For French, I have to study for the unit test tomorrow.

Rouge Valley
Today we went on a science field trip to Rouge Valley, where it was very cold. We learned about different species of endangered species and how we could help conserve their habitats and ecosystems. We hiked down to a stream through forest and wet and slippery hills. In the stream, we saw a big dead salmon. We then did an activity int eh wetlands where each group had a map and had to label things on the map using symbols. We went back to school at around 2 in the afternoon, and stayed in science class until the school day was over.

Booleon Algebra
Today we did a quiz on writing a simple program to ask the user if it is a late-start day. We then took a long note on Boolean Operators, Booleon Algebra, and Truth Tables. We also learned the new keywords "and", "or", and "elseif".
I am going on the science trip to Rouge Valley tomorrow! WE are going to study ecology and the communities and populations of organisms.

Act Like the Computer
Today we learned how to desk check a program, or trace the execution of the program. To do so, we have to act as the computer acts, and perform tasks like a machine, instead of adapting to the situation like a human would. Mr. Arkin said that this is one of the most important skills we'll ever learn in ICS.
I got 16 out of 16 for my debate! YES! For science, I have to finish an assignment on population of mice and their population patterns. For French, I need to do more pages from le cahier and le text.

Level 1, 2, 3, or 4?
Today, as soon as we got into the classroom and logged on, we took a quick note on how to change the colours of the run window for Turing. We then took a blind poll on the level of understanding of the students. Those who believed their levels were 1 or 2, Mr. Arkin gave a lesson. Levels 3 and 4 worked on the Input assignments.
For homework, I need to work on my English debate during the weekend, as the debate is on Monday.

Autobiography Marks
Today we finally got our Superpower Autobiography marks back! I got 45 out of 50! I believe it was the highest in the class. Mr. Arkin then took up the things we need to pay special attention to, such as having blank spaces after punctuation marks. He then warned us that pop quizzes will start coming up soon. Uh-oh!
For homework, I get to improve my debate, since it got moved up to Monday. For French, I have read pages in the text book and answered the questions about the passages. For science, we learned about number, biomass, and energy pyramids, so for homework I had to draw 3 different pyramids in the workbook. For ICS, I continue on the Input assignments.
Today was the Grade 9 election day. In period one, the people running gave their speeches, and in period two we received ballots for voting.

Not on the USB
Today we took up the asterisk border assignment, where in the end, everyone had a correct border. We then took more notes and terms for Programming Glossary. During our time on the computer, however, it become known to Mr. Arkin that most of us were working from our USBs. We were then told of the importance of working from a directory on the computer.
For homework, I will review operators, documentation template, and programming guidelines for ICS. For English, we are wrapping up preparations for the debate. I need to create a graph on the computer and also finish the organism project for science. Pages in the workbook and textbook are for French.

Turing
Today we created a new glossary called Programming Glossary. We also reviewed keywords and character strings, etc for Turing. We also learned about cls (clear screen), delay, dot-dot, and how certain commands tell the computer to move the cursor to the beginning of the next line, while dot-dot tells it not to move.
For homework, I am studying for a big science test tomorrow. For English, we continue the debate preparations. For French, I am doing page 26, 27, and 28 of the workbook. For ICS, I am doing the first assignment for Turing. Just one small problem. I don't have Turing.

Binary Codes
Today in class, we learned about decimal numbers and how they represent characters, and how the characters are pronounced as ASCII-__. For example, capital A is represented as 0100 0001, or ASCII-65. We also had to decode Mr. Arkin's blog from yesterday, entirely written with binary code. My eyes started hurting with row after row of 0's.

Almost Done the BCG!
Today, we copied the last of the definitions for the Basic Computer Glossary. Mr. Arkin explained the process of how the computer boots, and how the ROM sends enough instructions to the CPU, which sends them to primary storage, for it to read the instructions of the operation system in secondary storage. We also practiced counting from 0 to 12 using binary codes.
For homework, I continue my research for the element project. for English, I will search for important passages in chapter 25-36. For French, I continue my review of the unit.

Notes
Today in class, we took lots and lots of notes. Since Mr. Arkin wants us to wrap up the basic computer glossary, we copied many terms and definitions today. We also learned about kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, and terrabytes. It took a long time to write down all the digits of the powers of 2 (we went up to 2 to the power of 40)!
For homework, my French teacher gave us review sheets to practise for the unit test on Thursday. For English, I will do my summary of the novel "Great Expectations", and for science I continue my research of the element Boron.

Picture Day
Today was picture day! They called down everyone by alphabetical order, so my friend and I went down to the double gyms during ICS. The line was so long, by the time we reached the photo-taking booths, there were only ten minutes before lunch.
For homework, I have to research my element for science. I wanted to do Lithium, but it was already taken, so I ended up choosing boron. For English, I need to print out my final copy and staple the rubric to it. For ICS, I will continue to work on the glossary.
This past week, I've felt like I am floating. I am half-asleep all the time, and forget lots of stuff. I hope I won't be like this next week. Maybe I should go to bed early today.

Vocab
Today we continued working on our glossaries. Mr. Arkin told us that we only had 27 terms, instead of the other class's 36 terms. I have all but finished the informal definitions of the terms, and now I need the formal ones. I will use the suggested sites that Mr. Arkin and other students posted on touque.ca.
For homework, I need to study for the science quiz tomorrow. I have French homework in the textbook, but I have lost my textbook and will speak to Mr. Vretanos tomorrow. For now, I am borrowing a friend's. I need to finish my news report and print it out for English tomorrow.

Finished?
Well, there it is. My web page, on touque.ca. I've been working my arse off on this thing, and I hope you'll all check it out and enjoy it. I hope I pass!
The only thing I haven't done is to mark my peer's web page. He hasn't marked mine either. Technically, then, I'm not done. AWWWW
The assignment is due today at 10 P.M., so I still have time. No pressure. I'm gonna see this to the end!

AHHHHHHHHHH!!! It's almost the due date, and I still need to get my internal links to work! I also need alts for the images, and I need to create new directories for the images!
For homework, I searched up chemical bond for the descusion tommorrow in science class. For English, I still need to find a suitable myth.
Tomorrow is also tennis team tryouts. I'll have to wake up at 6 A.M. to get to school in time. High school. Great. So fun.

Hierarchical File Structure
Yesterday was Grade 9 day, so we didn't have ICS. Today I realized that I need to create a homepage, that what I thought were internal links actually aren't, and that I create another page for the internal link. I also have to save my pictures in another file. The hierarchical file structure. More work to do. Yay........
I need to do page 33 in my workbook for science, where I have to fill in what we discussed in class about ancient scientists and their theories. I also have to find a myth for English. I have ICS homework, too, of course.
Happier events today include me joining the archery club. I can't wait to once again shoot an arrow from my bow and feel the power from the shot!

Success
YES! I've finally done it! With 4 internal links, 17 external links, 10 images, valid CSS and HTML, my web page is nearly finished! My directory is on Filezilla, and everything is going smoothly. All I need now are the alt's for my images and some creativity to make my web page more attractive.
For homework, I need to do questions 10 and 11 for science. In addition, I will continue to fiddle with my web page. It's becoming a fun thing for me!
I walked at least 5 km back home with a friend. It feels nice to do exercise after 3 months of laziness. I can't wait for gym!

Breaking Down
On Thursday, my modem broke so I didn't have Internet. On Friday, I had so much work I forgot to blog. So now, I'm making up for it.
Since I'm trying out for the tennis team, me and my buddy are practicing at the tennis courts nearby. In addition, I'm starting badminton camp next week. So tiring! I also need to start volunteering for my volunteer hours.
I have successfully embedded several external and internal links, and I must say, my webpage is not too shabby. Now I need to add alt's for my images. Phew! So much work to do.

Validation
Today, we had to get our HTML's and CSS's validated. Out of the entire class, only 2 people had valid CSS's and HTML's. So, Mr. Arkin sent us to work. We copied down a trouble-shooting checklist, then printed our HTML's. Everyone got a partner and checked each others' HTML's.
I brought home my USB with my CSS and HTML in it. After fidgeting around for a while, i finally got my css to be declared valid by the Validator. My HTML, though, was still invalid, because I had no DOCTYPE! Even so, I had managed to lower my HTML errors from 20 to 1! I am now on a quest to find a DOCTYPE for my HTML. Time to call in the artillery. DAD!!!

World Wide Web II
Today, in class, I finally got my html and css onto Filezilla. Yay! I also added multiple external links and pictures. Now I need to work on internal links, validating my html and css, and editing my paragraphs. For homework today, I worked on my science "Studying Matter" worksheet, and my lab chart. I spent a head hurting hour on them. Thank goodness i don't have any more homework! I am constantly reminding myself to bring a usb key to school tomorrow and to make a mirror file for my html. Work work work!

World Wide Web
Today we needed to post our index.html, so we had to download "Filezilla". After several attempts to connect to the server, I dragged my file into the right pane, only to find that the file was empty.
I have homework for every subject. For English, I have to read "the Veldt" and find its moral, theme, and examples of foreshadowing. For French, I have to finish a crossword using conjugated irregularverbs. For science, I continue to work on my design lab. For ICS, I am still working, bit by bit, on my webpage.

It's Friday!!!
In class, we continued working on our Super-power autobiographies. My Super-power autobiography is about how I used to be a Mayan High Priest, and how I was reincarnated into the son of the Sun, super being Golden Ray. In my autobiography, I described my powers, my past life, and my duties. I finished all the writing portions of the assignment in class. Now I need to embed links, post images, and make sure my links, HTML, and CSS are valid and correct.
I have plenty of homework to keep me busy for the weekends. For science, I have to make up a research question and plan a design lab based on the physical something of matter. For English, I need to read "The Sea Devil" and find the moral and theme. For French, I need to create a dramatic skit that is 2 minutes long. yeah, I'd say I'm fairly busy.
Ah, the weekends. I can finally relax (sorta), sleep late, and enjoy 2 non-hectic days.

The Start of Super-power Autobiography assignment
We began our assignments in class, each person fiddling with their webpages. I relied heavily on my notes. Making the HTML script took quite a while, but I finally finished, and proudly gazed at my very first webpage. I then had to create the CSS for the page, and that took even longer because I couldn't get the CSS to link to my HTML. With the help of a friendly classmate sitting beside me, we noticed an error in my HTML. Fixing that, my webpage was complete. I spent several more minutes entertaining myself by experimenting with different background and text colours. Jerry's Page of Wonders was complete.
After school, I went up to room 208 and signed up for the Junior Boys Soccer Team. Tryouts are next week. I hope I will make the team! I also took a Junior Boys Volleyball team sign-up form. I plan to make as many teams as I can.
For homework , I finished my science metric conversion sheets, searched up significant digits, and wrote my daily log. I also have until Monday to create a dramatic skit for French about the first day of school with my group.

My head hurts
The second day of class was totally CRAMMED. Since Mr. Arkin will be away on Thursday and Friday for the Jewish new year, we were taught two weeks worth of material in the length of one period. We started a glossary of computer terms, which included words like browser, HTML, and network. We copied an HTTP language script and learned about Start Tags, End Tags, containers, and elements. We also copied down a CSS and learned about how it controls the colour schemes of a web page. Notes were written defining HTML and CSS, and how HTML describes content, while CSS describes format.
At the end of class, Mr. Arkin taught us about the Jewish new year, and how to wish people a happy new year. He then informed us on the custom of eating something sweet so that our new years would also be sweet. He presented to us lollipops when we left his classroom.
For homework, I once again have to blog events of today's class. I also have to prepare for the Super-power Autobiography assignment, where I will design a web page with valid HTML and CSS with a partner.

The first computer class with Mr. Arkin
In the first computer class of the year, my classmates and I were introduced to Mr. Arkin. My first impression of Mr. Arkin was, "hey, what a nice teacher. I think I'll like this class." We copied down our homework as soon as we were settled in our seats, and Mr. Arkin went over them with us. He then informed us on the locations of the washrooms, to everyone's relief.
For homework, I went to touque.ca/EC/ICS2O/ and clicked on Daily Log. With my dad, we browsed the class website, and then I created my Wikispaces account, following the precise instructions from the daily log. Finishing that, I previewed the Super-power Autobiography assignment and read about the purpose, method, and publishing of the project. My last assignment was to create a Blogger account. Creating the account was easy. Now I'm writing this entry to finish my first-day-of-school assignments. Hehe, that was easy. Adios!
